About Me

I have lived in St. Ives for forty years, having moved here from Wanstead, East London where I was born and educated, in the constituency of Sir Winston Churchill, hence my middle name "Winston." I have worked in St. Ives for three well known local companies that, sadly, are no longer in the town. However, I am now retired spending even more time working for the community.

I enjoy my Council work as I like to keep busy, but I am also busy in my private life too, and when I am not travelling I am busy supporting local youth and community organisations. Currently I am Chairman of the 2nd St. Ives Sea Scout Group and President of St. Ives Quadrilateral St. John's Ambulance. I support the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force - St. Ives Detachment, and I also support the Girls Venture Corps - Air Cadets.

In June 2010 I was greatly honoured to receive my Royal Appointment as "Cambridgeshire County President of St. John Ambulance".

Since I was first elected as a District Councillor in 1992, I have served on many Committees and Panels and have acted as Chairman of the following - Employment Panel; Employee Liaison Advisory Group; Safety Advisory Group and St. Ivo Leisure Centre Management Committee. There are two important Panels that I have been pleased to serve on, namely the Appointments Panel and the Appeals Sub-Group.

From May 2008 to May 2010 I have been very proud to serve as Chairman of the Council, a role that I have found easy as it is no problem in representing an "Excellent Authority."

I have two daughters and four grandchildren all educated in our excellent local schools.

Visiting a re-cycling plant in Milton Keynes where they seperate dry recyclables from Huntingdonshire, and I found the plant quite impressive.
